Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy MRCP (Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom), FRCS (Fellowship of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons) was an acclaimed Indian physician, educationist, philanthropist, freedom fighter and politicial as Chief Minister from 1948 until his death in 1962. He is one of the few prople in world history to have obtained F.R.C.S., M.R.C.P & Bharat Ratna award (India's highest civilian honour) on February 4, 1961, That's why in India, the National Doctor,s Day is celebrated in his memory every year on July 1.
